It seems like everywhere we go lately, there’s another pickleball court popping up.

Hotels and resorts are adding courts as guest amenities, apartment communities are building them alongside pools and fitness centers and existing properties are finding ways to turn unused recreation space into somewhere guests or residents can play.

We even recently noticed an apartment community near our neighborhood in South Austin that added a pickleball court. It got us thinking about how much pickleball has changed from being a trendy activity to becoming an actual amenity people expect to see at certain properties.

But if you're going to have the court, there's another question worth asking: What are people going to play with?

Adding a pickleball court is great but hotel and resort guests aren't necessarily packing two paddles and a few pickleballs in their suitcase.

And pickleball courts can legitimately be a selling point for a property. We were recently looking at resorts in Cancun for a holiday trip and ended up choosing one partly because they had pickleball courts. It was something we specifically looked for when comparing resorts and I have a feeling we're not the only ones doing that.

Having equipment available on property makes the amenity even easier to enjoy. Custom pickleball paddles and balls can be kept at the front desk, recreation center, clubhouse or equipment checkout area. Guests can grab what they need, head to the court and return everything afterward.

Branding the equipment has another practical benefit too. When paddles and balls have the resort or hotel logo on them, it's easy to identify which equipment belongs to the property.

And unlike a lot of traditional promotional products, this isn't necessarily something that needs to leave the property. A good set of branded paddles can be used by guest after guest throughout the season.

If we had to pick one product to start with, full-color custom pickleball paddles would be near the top of the list.

There is a ton of decorating space available on a paddle, which means you're not limited to putting a small logo in the middle and calling it a day.

Paddles and balls are the obvious pickleball products, but custom gym towels are another one we really like for hotels, resorts and apartment communities.

This is especially true here in Texas and at resorts in warmer destinations. Play a few games outside in the summer and a towel starts sounding pretty good.

Custom cooling towels can be a great addition for pickleball tournaments and organized property events. Full-color sublimated towels are another option if you want more decorating space and a design that coordinates with the paddles.

You could hand them out to tournament participants, keep them as part of a premium pickleball kit or use them as a giveaway during a resident event.

This also opens up more possibilities for branded merchandise.

Start with what you already have, how many courts you're outfitting and how you expect the equipment to be used. From there, it's much easier to determine what makes sense.
